Trumpet lessons with FaceTime, Skype, and Zoom video chat have allowed players of all levels to learn how to play the trumpet easier. Jeff has been teaching private trumpet lessons and brass players since 1984 and pioneered teaching trumpet lessons online and brass lessons online in 2004, with students taking lessons weekly from six continents.
Jeff Purtle is a private teacher, clinician, and trumpet player with international clientele. As a protégé of Claude Gordon he continues the traditions of Claude Gordon and Herbert L. Clarke with effortless playing and productive practice.
Jeff Purtle has performed trumpet recitals in England,Wales, Scotland and the USA. He has spoken to a packed room at the International Trumpet Guild Conference and hosted his own brass conferences attracting players internationally. Jeff’s brass students are in all branches of the United States military, band directors from South Carolina and other states, and students in the San Francisco Symphony (California), Charlotte Symphony (North Carolina), Greenville Symphony Orchestra (South Carolina), Charleston Symphony (South Carolina), Augusta Symphony (Georgia), Aiken Symphony Orchestra (South Carolina), Jacksonville Symphony (Florida), and UK and Chinese orchestras. Some are touring in the United Kingdom and Europe. Jeff was personally certified by master teacher and author Claude Gordon. Jeff’s ebook “Hit it Hard & Wish It Well” is published in the Apple Books Store.
Online lessons have many advantages. More is accomplished with weekly lessons that catch bad habits sooner, adapt to the student's needs, and insure more consistent progress with the time spent.
Some students that live outside the USA take a combination of Crash Course Lessons in person and Online Lessons weekly. A Crash Course involves several long lessons and then leaving with specific assignments for a month or more of detailed practice routines. The nearest international airports are Greenville-Spartanburg International (GSP) - 10 minute drive, Charlotte-Douglas International (CLT) - 84 minute drive, and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (ATL) - 135 minute drive, and the local Greenville Downtown Airport (GMU) - 8 minute drive from Jeff's teaching studio. Following Crash Course Lessons with weekly lessons always gets the most results for the time spent.
Trumpet and brass playing development is a process improving habits and consistent correct practice is valuable. Weekly lessons, either in person or online, are important for anyone hoping to play their best.
