Why Do Musicians Charge?

Jeff as an example has invested the following into developing his skill: $10,000 for ten years of study with a world class teacher.
$20,000 for a college music degree.
$20,000 for musical instruments to do any job.
$10,000 for a music library to develop skills and perform.
3-5 hours of daily practice for 25+ years to improve and maintain skills.
25+ years experience playing professionally in every playing situation possible.
These figures also don't take into account 20 years of inflation.
Self-employed musicians must also pay their own health insurance, taxes and other expenses.

A professional's flute can cost $10,000.
A professional's oboe costs $7,500.
A professional's violin can cost $10,000-$75,000 or more.
A professional's harp can cost $10,000-$50,000.

This all makes the point that a lot of expense goes into preparing for a professional performance. You get what you pay for. We contract only skilled professionals.
